Atami and Mount Omuro

I visited a hot spring town called Atami and found a Pokémon art exhibition being held at the MOA Museum of Art. There were many more art pieces but here are some of the features ones.

I enjoyed walking around an area near the bus station, where I could try local food and admire the bald hot spring mascot with a nice comb over. His name is Atsuo and he represents the Onsen culture. “Atsu” means “hot” and the “o” typically means “man” so his name could be interpreted as “Hot Man” or “Mr. Hot”.

Mount Omuro is a grass covered volcano with nice views over the Izu Peninsula. It was a great place to stop and see the landscapes. I admired how the wind swept through the rolling green grass.

Near the Volcano there is a petting zoo called Izu Shaboten Zoo where you can pet Capybaras and feed them grass.
